Frequently asked questions
Will the Indra charger work with my car?
Yes, all Indra chargers will work with any new EV sold in the UK currently, regardless of make or model. If you change your car, the charger will still be compatible with your new EV. Simply update your car in the app and keep using it as before.
Some older cars with CHADeMO connectors are unlikely to work with Indra’s chargers, as older charging connectors are being phased out.
How much does the charger cost?
The price will vary depending on the model of charger you select. However, the charger prices on our site all include a standard installation, unlike many of our competitors, who add installation charges after purchase.
If the installation process is not a standard one, there may be an increased price to manage this, but our quotation will always be transparent with no hidden extra costs.
Where the installation proves not to be a standard one, there is the option to get a refund instead of proceeding if you’re not happy with the additional costs.
Are there any ongoing charges for the charger?
No, once the charger has been purchased and installed, the only charges are for the use of power to your EV, which are fixed by your energy tariff and supplier. When our chargers are paired with smart EV tariffs, you will benefit from the cheapest possible rates, ensuring significant savings over using public charging and even standard home electricity tariffs.
Do I need a driveway or special access?
A driveway or garage with a power supply is the ideal solution for installing an Indra EV charger. If you live in a terraced street with on-street parking, you will require additional solutions for installing your charger. There are government grants available for pavement gullies to allow the charging cable to reach the vehicle without creating a trip hazard.
Is there a trial period or refund policy?
There’s no trial period, and the refund policy is only applicable if you don’t qualify for a standard installation and you’re unhappy with the additional costs needed to complete the install. Under these circumstances, you can request a refund for the charger.
How much is installation?
For a standard installation, which is approximately 70% of all customers, the price is as advertised on our site for the model of charger selected.
For installations which are not standard, the additional costs will be quoted for before you commit to buying the charger. The quote will be fixed, and there will be no hidden additional costs, although you can get a full refund if you aren’t happy to proceed with the extra costs.
Is my home suitable?
We ask all customers to complete a simple online survey to assess the suitability of their home and the ease of installation of the charger. We will then be able to let you know if your home is suitable or needs additional work to install a charger. Over 70% of customers qualify for a standard installation, and it is possible if you have:
- a suitable connection where the charger can be hardwired - a parking space nearby - an internet connection
Do I need an installer, or can I set the charger up by myself?
As the charger is wired into the house’s electrical supply, a certified electrician must manage the installation.
When you purchase an Indra charger from our website, your price will include a certified, professional standard installation by a qualified electrician from our trusted network.
Where the installation is not a standard install, any additional costs will be agreed prior to any work taking place.
How does the installation work?
Installation consists of four simple steps:
You complete a simple home survey via a SMS text link, for which you don’t need any electrical knowledge.
Based on the information from your survey, if a standard installation is possible, you’ll not have anything additional to pay. If additional work is needed, we will give you a transparent quotation with no hidden extra costs. If you are unhappy with the extra costs and don’t wish to proceed, you will be able to get a full refund.
You will be contacted to book an installation date at a time convenient to you.
An expert electrician will come to fit your charger and show you how it works. You will need to be present at the property during the installation.
How long does installation take?
Installation normally takes around 2-4 hours and can be arranged at a time that is convenient to you.
How much will the charger cost to run?
The cost of running the charger will depend on the energy tariff you are signed up for, and the size of the EV’s battery. Indra chargers integrate with 1000s of electric tariffs, including smart EV tariffs, which ensure you’ll always benefit from the cheapest available rates for charging your vehicle.
